Drink it now or cellar for up to 25 years. It is recommended to decant it for an hour. Founded in the 1950s, the Giovanni Corino winery achieved notoriety in the 1980s, when Giuliano, the founder's son, took over the company, focusing on the production of Barolo wines from the company's Cru vineyards. Today the estate extends over approximately 9 hectares of vineyards and produces high-quality local wines in a modern style. This wine is produced with 100% Nebbiolo grapes from the Giachini vineyard, located in the municipality of La Morra, with southern exposure, on clay-limestone soil. After the harvest, a short maceration on the skins, and fermentation, the wine is aged in French oak barrels for 24 months, then assembled and left in steel for 6 months. After bottling, the wine rests for approximately 12 months before being released onto the market. Barolo Vigna Giachini has a brilliant ruby color with a garnet edge. On the nose, it reveals a fascinating aromatic scent with typical hints of Nebbiolo, such as violet, undergrowth, blackberry, and black cherry, and then notes of tobacco, licorice, and vanilla. On the palate, it is full-bodied and round with firm and well-integrated tannins. There is a strong mineral streak and a good acidic backbone that create a perfect balance. The finish is long, persistent, and very elegant and recalls spicy and licorice notes. Excellent with wild boar and mature cheeses.
