Cellar for up to 9 years. No need to decant before serving. Bosquet des Papes has been a working winery since 1860 and has been owned aby the Boiron family for six generations. In total they have 40 separate plots in Chateauneuf du Pape with an average vine age of 50 years. Their classic Chateauneuf du Pape Tradition is primarily composed of Grenache with a smaller proportion of Syrah, Mourvedre and other local varieties. Grapes are sourced from all over the appellation from stony, clay and sandy soils, capturing in the bottle the complexity of the terroir of Chateauneuf du Pape. Once vinified the young wine is then aged in a combination of foudres, demi-muid barrels and neutral tanks for 12 months. This helps to add polish and additional character from the oak while preserving freshness and aromatics from the grapes themselves. The result is a rich, intense Chateauneuf du Pape with great balance and poise thanks to the bright streak of acidity and ripe tannins on the palate. Succulent cassis, blackberry and plum defines the nose along with hints of leather, dried violets and cigar box spice. The medium body is complemented aby a firm structure and long finish, making this a great wine to hold in the cellar for a few more years or drink now with charcuterie or red meat dishes.
