Cellar for up to 5 years. Serve chilled. The Boiron family have made wine at Bosquet des Papes for six generations, stretching right back to 1860 when they bought the property. The family specialise in producing traditional-style Chateauneuf du Pape wines which are designed to age very well in the cellar over at least 8-10 years. In total they have 40 parcels of prime vineyards spread across the Chateauneuf du Pape appellation which allow them to capture the complexity of the region’s terroir in their terrific value wines. They also produce delicious white wines like this bottling which is crafted from Clairette Blanche, Clairette Rosé, Grenache Blanc, Bourboulenc and a drop of Grenache Gris. An average vine age of 50 years helps to add complexity and intensity of flavour as does the family’s practice of fermenting and ageing part of the wine in 550 litre oak casks. The result is a perfectly balanced white wine bursting with honey, apricot, bitter almond, green tea and mineral notes on the nose. The first sip reveals a medium body, gentle creamy texture, subtle tannins and a very long finish seasoned with hints of spice from the oak. Great to pair with creamy chicken or fish dishes, although it can also be held in the cellar for a few more years.
